Without love, there would be few pop songs left. Small wonder then, that when the government sets to imposing limits on love, pop fans and musicians do not stand idly by.
We are a group of people who were becoming increasingly incensed at statewide and national efforts to create constitutional amendments restricting gay marriage. As we thought of ways to combat this movement, the idea of getting a group of talented musicians together to raise money and awareness for the cause was born. The Boston music community has taken to the idea with open arms. We have had wonderful responses to out past events, and look forward to planning more in the next few months.
We are here to raise awareness on the issue of marriage equality and equal rights. Through musicians and bands at venues across the country, we will educate people about same-sex marriage. We aim to show people that love between two individuals, no matter what sexual orientation, must be respected and allowed for under the law. We also hope to inform people that amending the Constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage, both the state Constitution here in Massachusetts, and the US Constitution, is nothing less than discrimination. Speak out and tell your friends, family, co-workers and government you are against forbidding rights to a group of Americans and that you are against creating a second-class citizenship.
We are organizing shows to raise money for organizations such as Mass Equality , Human Rights Campaign, and other groups fighting for equal marriage rights, in order to support them in their fight to make America free for all of its citizens
